AI predicts post-apocalyptic looking Old Trafford if Sir Jim Ratcliffe doesn't fix roof

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has plenty of work to do at Manchester United – including tackle the Old Trafford waterfall, and AI has predicted how a post-apocalyptic looking stadium could look

Manchester United’s run in to the end of a miserable season had a welcome night of relief as Erik ten Hag’s side beat Newcastle United, and the rain felt across Manchester wasn’t heavy enough for the roof to leak.

The ‘Old Trafford Falls’ as the embarrassing and fitting embodiment of United’s fortunes over the past decade and Glazer ownership has been coined; is the perfect allegory for the task Ratcliffe and INEOS have to tackle.

Chants in the away section at the Theatre of Dreams this season have poked fun at “Old Trafford is falling down,” and few have been heard louder or more accurately than during Arsenal’s 1-0 win on Sunday afternoon.

A heavy thunderstorm late in the game saw water cascade down the terraces like a river and a waterfall fell from the top of the stands onto the seats below as fans took cover.

Ratcliffe and his new board at United have the decision whether to keep Erik ten Hag at the club after their 14 league defeats so far this season marked an unwanted Premier League record for the Red Devils.

There is also work that must be done to Old Trafford, even if the £2billion redevelopment plans are in discussion.

Aside from roofing and technical experts urging the Old Trafford leaks to be a “top priority” to solve, a visual warning has come after AI pictures, per Instant Casinos, showed how the stadium will apparently look in 20 years time if the stadium continues to be neglected – and the world is seemingly left in a post-apocalyptic state.

According to the AI pictures, which appear to show the Sir Bobby Charlton stand having undergone redevelopment work to increase its capacity, the view inside the ground shows something more familiar on ‘The Last of Us’, with stands becoming overgrown and sections of the roof collapsing.

While outside a desolate view shows the fittings of the exterior of stands dismantled.

Ratcliffe has previously admitted that the 114-year stadium is “run down and neglected,” and he has vowed to address the situation in the summer. United officials and their building partners have held talks with the railway company that operates the rail track behind the south stand regarding redevelopment or refurbishing work.

A ‘regeneration’ task force is also in place regarding the future of Old Trafford and the surrounding area. Chaired by Lord Sebastian Coe, other members include the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, Chief Executive of Trafford Council, Sara Todd and former United captain Gary Neville.
