EXCLUSIVE: A new list details which areas in the UK might be in most danger if a nuclear bomb were to drop as tensions across the world grow further amid World War 3 rumours

Southampton residents are being warned their homes might be the most at risk if a nuclear bomb attack were to fall on the UK. Among a list of 20 cities and towns, the coastal port city could be hit most if a targeted strategic attack took place.

Fears of World War 3 are on the minds of world leaders and civilians alike, not least following recent developments in Russia. Recent news of unusual drones being spotted above airbases in the country and that British long-range missiles were sent into Russia during their 1000 day conflict with Ukraine have been worrying some civilians.

Now a list shows which cities and towns might be in danger if it comes to the worst. Vladimir Putin has officially verified a document which allows him to use nuclear weapons if his country is "threatened." Adding to this, the British Government sides with Ukraine and Israel facing off against Putin's Russia, Hamas and Iran respectively.

It is thought that as of 2024, Russia has 5,580 nuclear warheads, the largest stockpile in the world. It's not known where he would choose to drop a bomb, but some higher population areas are more likely than others.

Not only this, some areas might be affected more than others. In particular, port cities and historical sites, according to Google's artificial intelligence-based large language model, Gemini.

According to Google Gemini, when we asked where would be most in danger should a nuclear strike take place on London, the following areas were listed:

1. Southampton: A major port city on the south coast.

2. Reading: A large town and university town.

3. Guildford: A historic town in Surrey.

4. Brighton: A popular seaside resort.

5. Maidstone: The county town of Kent.

6. Canterbury: A historic city with a famous cathedral.

7. Ipswich: A major town in Suffolk.

8. Luton: A town with a significant airport.

9. Watford: A town in Hertfordshire.

10. Slough: A town in Berkshire.

11. Oxford: A historic university city

12. Basingstoke: A market town in Hampshire.

13. Portsmouth: A major naval port city.

14. Bournemouth: A popular seaside resort.

15. Southend-on-Sea: A seaside town in Essex.

16. Crawley: A town in West Sussex.

17. St Albans: A historic city in Hertfordshire.

18. Milton Keynes: A planned city in Buckinghamshire.

19. Colchester: A historic town in Essex.

20. Cambridge: A prestigious university city.

Gemini added: "The exact blast radius would depend on the size and type of nuclear weapon used, but it could potentially extend several miles from the epicentre. Therefore, cities within this radius would be at the greatest risk."
