WARNING, DISTRESSING CONTENT: Maria Kovalchuk was invited to a dangerous and risky party while on holiday in Dubai and revealed that she suffered serious abuse at the hands of those she was partying with

Maria Kovalchuk, 21, had been travelling in Dubai when she was invited to a luxurious party in the glamorous desert city. However, she was later found to be in a coma days later, suffering horrific injuries to her body and brain.

The model, who posts raunchy content onto various platforms, claims that she sustained a broken spine during the abuse. She also suffered broken limbs, head wounds and a scarred face at the hands of her captors, as well as having her scalp removed.

Speaking on Ukrainian TV show Hovoryt vsia kraina, Maria's mum Anna said that the model had been found in a coma on the roadside back in March after she had gone missing. She was also found to have a huge scar caused by a knife extending from her forehead to the top of her skull.

Describing the situation as a "shock", mum Anna said that doctors worked tirelessly to reattach her scalp, with stitches also being needed on the back of her head. "My impression is that it was just done like this, with a knife, and right across the face," Anna insisted.

It is believed that Maria had been attending a party at a five-star hotel in Dubai when she suffered serious abuse over the next few days. Anna went on to say that Maria has since had several surgeries and operations on various parts of her body, including her legs and her spine.

However, Anna claimed that while the party did result in the abuse taking place, she believed it was not "sheikhs" that carried out the violence - but Russians "torturing" her. She added: "My theory is that [her so far unidentified captors] operate a trafficking scheme; they took her passport, phone, and said she belonged to them and would do what they say - they wanted to break her psychologically."

Two Russians who were accused of being involved in the plot have publicly denied that they had anything to do with Maria's serious wounds. Artyom Papazov and Aleksandra Mertsalova, both 19 and from prominent Russian business families, were both questioned by authorities in the United Arab Emirates, but were released from the investigation.

Police in Dubai also looked into a theory that suggested Maria left the party to commit suicide by jumping eight floors from a balcony into a nearby construction site. However, a neurosurgeon explained that the injuries would not be consistent with a fall, but rather being beaten and thrown of out of a car.

As a result, there is a five-hour gap in the story, where the details on how Maria had left the party and ended up in a coma outside remain unknown. Since the incident, Maria has sought refuge in Norway and is being looked after by mum Anna.

Maria is now making the slow path to recovery, learning to walk again on crutches, while she comes to terms with the horrific abuse she suffered. However, Maria and Anna remain fearful after they received anonymous messages from unknown numbers, writing: "We'll find you - even in Norway."
