Thomas Tuchel has named his first England team with Marcus Rashford the headline name making his return to the squad for their World Cup qualifiers

And the German has already made his first big decisions as the boss of the Three Lions with Jordan Henderson, Marcus Rashford and Dan Burn all included in his squad.

Rashford had seemingly looked set to miss out on the squad after he was frozen out of Ruben Amorim's Manchester United at the turn of the year. However, his up turn in form at Aston Villa has earned him a spot in the squad.

Reece James, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Jarell Quansah and Kyle Walker have also been recalled to the squad.

While there is no room for Jack Grealish, Harry Maguire, Rico Lewis, Jarrad Branthwaite, Conor Gallagher, Morgan Gibbs-White, or Ollie Watkins.

Due to current injury issues, Tuchel has been unable to call upon Bukayo Saka, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Harry Maguire, John Stones, Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw and Lewis Hall.

Tuchel reached out to more than 50 players before announcing his squad: "Gareth (Southgate) was very, very connected and very smart culturally as well,” FA chief executive Mark Bullingham said when asked about Tuchel’s approach to calling players.

“Thomas is the same and he realised early on that you don’t build those connections in the six days you get together, so he’s put a lot of effort into that.

“He’s got 55 on his long list and makes sure that he’s got a strong connection with them and they know that he’s seen them. It’s not only the players in England, it’s players playing abroad as well, and that will only stand us in good stead in the long run.”

Tuchel’s reign and qualifying for the 2026 World Cup kicks-off on March 21 against Albania at Wembley before the Three Lions host Latvia three days later.
