The Hollywood megastar and wife Blake Lively joined Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney to celebrate with fans as the Red Dragons clinched promotion from League One to the Championship

Hollywood megastar Ryan Reynolds got on the beers with wife Blake Lively and fans as Wrexham celebrated promotion from League One to the Championship in style.

Fellow club owner Rob McElhenney was also at the Racecourse Ground to see the Welsh side thrash Charlton Athletic 3-0, thanks to two quickfire first half goals from Oliver Rathbone and Sam Smith in the 15th and 18th minute - the second a stunning volley - then a further strike from Smith in the 81st minute to settle the game beyond doubt.

Phil Parkinson's squad went into the match in second spot as they faced fourth-placed Charlton, after rivals Wycombe Wanderers in third had lost earlier on Saturday against Leyton Orient in the early kick-off at Brisbane Road. And victory in the penultimate game of the season in front of 12,774 fans saw the Red Dragons guarantee a second-placed finish to bring about promotion.

Reynolds had served drinks to Wrexham fans in the club's fanzone ahead of the crunch clash, while also downing a beer from behind the bar and taking selfies with adoring fans.

The Deadpool star and his wife celebrated wildly in the stands with McElhenney as they marked the latest stunning chapter in their North Wales fairy tale.

Reynolds and McElhenney have steered Wrexham from non-league to the third tier in consecutive seasons since their takeover in 2021, transforming the club's fortunes.

And their latest promotion could be worth as much as £12m to the club.

Earlier this week at the TIME100 Summit, Reynolds jokingly credited the strain of a potential third consecutive promotion with causing him a stomach ulcer.

He said: "I have, literally, like an eight-inch ulcer in my stomach right now because it's the end of the season. It all comes down to the next two weeks.

"They just can't do it easy, like just one year let's do it without having receding hairlines all around. We're all losing it. Stress [is] killing us."

After a stunning victory over Blackpool on Monday, it was revealed McElhenney had spurred the team on with an electrifying pre-match pep talk.

Midfield maestro George Dobson spilled the beans on the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor's words of wisdom.

"It was unbelievable," he gushed. "The Wigan and Bristol Rovers games it maybe looked like we were a tad more cagey than we had been and [McElhenney] just said 'there's no pressure whatsoever'.

"[He said] 'Just go back to that 12 year old boy and play as you would as a kid with your friends'.

"It was a really inspirational, motivational speech and the whole group really bought into it."
