An enormous emergency team rushed to The Esplanade around 8 pm following reports of a person plunging into the sea. Amidst the chaos, police, coastguard rescue officers from Lowestoft, paramedics, and the air ambulance service were all on the scene.
A police spokesperson confirmed: "Suffolk Constabulary was called at around 8.03pm on Sunday night, by the ambulance service, to an incident on the coast off The Esplanade in the town. A woman, aged in her 30s, sadly died at the scene."
Authorities are treating the death as unexplained but do not suspect foul play at this time. Investigators are now preparing a file for the coroner's inquest.
Heartbreaking tributes for Ms Cole-Nottage were paid, including one that said: "My beautiful mummy, I love you the world" and another in the form of flowers conveyed: "You will forever be missed by so many."
Another said: "Rest in paradise Saff" alongside an outpouring of condolences to the family and love for the "beautiful, amazing lady." One particularly touching tribute read: "My beautiful bestie forever 32 the light to my everything I will miss u forever and always - the pain hurts so much, love you Saffron Cole-Nottage."
Another added: "My darling Saff. What can I really say, there are no words to express how much we will miss you. The world is so cruel and to take you in this freak horrific way will not sit well with me for the rest of my life.
"You will be forever missed by so many and I'm really not sure I'll ever be the same without you. Me and the kids will love you and never forget you, until we meet again.'"
