Manchester United have launched a new improved bid for Bryan Mbeumo, believed to match the Bees' valuation of the winger as the Red Devils move closer to a 'compromise'

Manchester United have reportedly launched a new bid for Bryan Mbeumo - believed to match the Bees' valuation.

Ruben Amorim appears to have moved a step closer to making his second first-team signing of the summer transfer window as the Red Devils returned with an improved offer for Mbeumo. United have already seen two bids for the Cameroon international rejected by Brentford.

But their latest proposal is worth a fixed £65million plus £5m in add-ons, and is awaiting response from the West London club, according to The Athletic.

Mbeumo informed Brentford and Tottenham last month of his decision to sign for United, pending an agreement was reached with the two clubs after he gave the Red Devils the green light.

Brentford were holding out for a fee exceeding the £62.5m United paid Wolves when they triggered Matheus Cunha's release clause earlier this summer.

Talks between the clubs continued as United attempted to find a compromise as they moved originally to sign the forward in time for pre-season, but Amorim now wants the 25-year-old to join United's pre-season tour.

Mbeumo's contract expires at the Gtech Stadium at the end of the upcoming season, but Brentford have the option to extend his deal by another 12 months.

The Cameroonian joined Brentford in 2019 from Troyes, and enjoyed his most productive season in the top-flight - scoring 20 goals and registering eight assists as the Bees finished 10th in the table.

Fears regarding the deal have been raised due to interest in Mbeumo's Brentford team-mate Yoanne Wissa, with Newcastle reported on Thursday to have turned their attention to the striker after missing out on Hugo Ekitike, and it unsure whether Brentford would part with their two stars in the same summer.

Liverpool have moved ahead of the Magpies in the race to sign the Eintracht Frankfurt frontman after Ekitike signalled his desire to join the Reds.
