Child killed in 'under siege' Zagreb school horror 'bloodbath' leaving multiple injured
A child has been confirmed dead following a mass stabbing at a school in the Croatian capital of Zagreb which has been described as a bloodbath injuring both teachers and kids
A primary school was left looking like a "bloodbath" after a vicious assault by a "student" who allegedly stabbed a teacher and left others injured. A seven-year-old child has died as a result of their injuries from the sickening knife attack. Multiple adults and children were injured and transported to Zagreb hospitals.
The suspected 19-year-old attacker has been detained and placed under police surveillance at the Sveti Duh Hospital.
After the shocking incident at Prečko, emergency services, including an ambulance and a helicopter, were dispatched to the scene, with the chopper landing on the school's playground.
Police said in a statement: "Today, December 20, at around 9.50 am, a 19-year-old Croatian citizen injured a teacher and several students with a sharp object in an educational institution in the Prečko area. The attacker is under police surveillance. The injured are receiving medical attention. One child has died as a result of the injuries."
According to local sources, kids were hurriedly evacuated from the site amid claims that the building is "under siege", with some still inside. Dnevnik.
Dnevnik.hr reported today both students and staff are "in shock" with several "in tears" while they await their parents to reunite with them. Despite the limited details available about the horrific event and the police not issuing any official statement yet, it's known that there is a hefty emergency response in place, boasting "at least six ambulances".
The attack occurred at the close of the first school semester, mere days before Christmas celebrations, reports the Mirror.
