Resumo: This game was the first 3D shooter in which you actually played in a true 3D environment. You can freely move in all three dimensions and rotate around any axis. You can easily mix up floor with ceiling and it doesn\'t even matter. It\'s like Doom and Terminal Velocity



Descrição:
The story is simple. The largest mining company, PTMC, called on you, the best bad-and-mean pilot, to eliminate a rising threat. Apparently, they have lost control of their mining stations on Pluto to an unknown enemy force which, naturally, consists of robots and flying craft. They also noticed intelligence in these ships, so they could be a threat to Earth itself. Your mission is to go into the mines, rescue any hostages you can and destroy the mine and everything else you encounter. Deep down on each level you can find a fusion reactor which you need to destroy in order to demolish the mine itself.

The game\'s concept is similar to that of Doom. There are 30 levels, and on each one you\'ll have to destroy a reactor before escaping through the EXIT. It is wise to locate the EXIT before dealing with the reactor since you will have limited time for your escape. With TAB you can access the map, which is indispensable. Since this is real 3D action, so is the map, and the programmers deserve praise for it.

You are flying a PYRO-GX ship, armed with AV42 Avenger concussion missiles and AG435 Industrial argon-cyanide lasers (sounds tough). The selection of weapons is very good, since there are various ones scattered throughout the mines (The company manged to hide them inside the mine?) and if you pick up a laser that you already have, it will upgrade its level, which will make it recharge faster and deliver more powerful blasts. Also, you always have two different weapons selected at the same time, primary and secondary (read: lasers or cannons and rockets or missiles). You change them with the number keys 1-5 and 6-0. Lasers travel towards their target (faster then rockets, naturally) and cannons hit almost immediately.

The AI varies with enemy types. Some will just fly towards you, and some will shoot from a distance, while evading your shots. Every single enemy aims perfectly, so you need to move fast to avoid their fire. Before each mission there is a briefing in which you will be shown info about new enemy craft that you will encounter.

Grey Blocks: A grey block allows you to step on it with out disappearing when you stand on it. Your start point is always a grey block, the last block you step on must be a grey block as well.
Grey Arrow Blocks: Arrow blocks forward you AUTOMATICALLY in the given direction without warning, with exception to the two way arrow blocks which have either a vertical or horizontal black line.
Warp Blocks: Warp blocks always come in a double pack. If you jump in, you come out at the other warp block. Warp blocks are grey and have a hole in them, they do not disappear when you step on them.
Blue Blocks: Blue blocks have to be destroyed by stepping on them.
Darkblue Blocks: Darkblue blocks turn into blue blocks, be careful: Darkblue blocks are sometimes an essential part of the puzzle elements.

Comment: Games based on speed and fast reactions were always popular. Some well known racing games that are published for all platforms are good reasons of having such games for PocketPC devices as well.
JumpyBall is another game in this genre but with a major difference that makes it a unique amazing game that reminisces one of the interesting classic games, SkyRoad from Bluemoon Interactive. You have to travel along a jagged curved platform without falling into holes and ditches. There are three different levels available with increasing difficulty and the game speed adds a lot of fun to your spare time.
3D Graphics are good and animation is smooth enough for such a speedy game. There are two music tracks and a few sound effects. The game can only be played by hardware buttons and a button customization menu is provided. Auto-jump feature is another good option that makes controlling the ball easier in higher speeds. Also there are some checkpoints in each level that the game will be resumed from there if you fail.
JumpyBall requires about 1MB of storage memory and can be installed on storage card.

Resumo: KyuKyokuSenki Gikadiver is a shooter for PocketPC that was developed for SHARP X68000 in 1996. In this game, your ships are infinitely within a time, and you can challenge the high score. GikaDiver was made for use in a campus festival, presumably in Japan. According to the developer, "this is completed by itself, not a trial version." There seems to be a bug, at least, when I play it with my device: it freezes when you quit the game. Just do a soft-reset and you're fine. For more, see my review (new post) below.
